Julien Guillot heads the family-owned Domaine Vignes du Maynes in Cruzille, between Chalon-sur-Saône and Mâcon in Burgundy. After working with his father, Alain Guillot, since 1998, he took over the reins in 2001. He has moved the vines from organic farming, well rooted in family traditions, to biodynamic viticulture. The estate holds Demeter certification. Clos des Vignes du Maynes has belonged to this family of winegrowers since 1952. Its history dates back to 910, the year the Abbey of Cluny was founded.

Geographical location of Domaine Vignes du Maynes

Vignes du Maynes comprises 7 hectares of vineyards and 27 plots of land in the commune of Cruzille, north of Mâcon. Granitic, limestone and white clay soils are reflected in each of Julien Guillot's wines. The vines are planted with Pinot Noir, Gamay and Chardonnay. Biodynamic viticulture is followed. When necessary, we add supplements such as dung horn, horsetail, herbal teas and silica.

Domaine Vignes du Maynes uses manual harvesting and semi-carbonic vinification. Ageing is adapted to each Burgundy wine. Red wines are matured in barrels, while white wines are matured in large containers.

Domaine Vignes du Maynes wines

Julien Guillot strives to produce stable wines as naturally as possible. Each of his Burgundy wines reflects its climate, terroir and geology. Some wines, such as Bourgogne Cuvée Auguste, a red wine made from Pinot Noir, can be kept for 8 to 20 years. The same is true of Mâcon Cruzille Aragonite, a white wine made from Chardonnay. Domaine Vignes du Maynes also offers Mâcon Cruzille Manganite, a red wine made from Gamay grapes. To complete the range, Domaine Vignes du Maynes' Mâcon Cruzille Les Chassagnes is a Chardonnay that can be enjoyed in its early years.
