CLOS DU MOULIN AUX MOINES

Nestled on the Hautes Côtes d'Auxey-Duresses, Clos du Moulin aux Moines is located in the land of legend. It was in the Celtic village of Auxey that Burgundy's winegrowing tradition began in the 2nd century BC. In 962, monks from the Abbey of Cluny founded the Moulin aux Moines. The Andrieu family took over ownership of the estate in 2008. They decided to restore the winemaking traditions of yesteryear and produce organic wines.

Geographical location of Domaine du Clos du Moulin aux Moines

The historic Auxey-Duresses parcel is a 3-hectare monopole. Ploughed by horse, it takes you back in time. Two grape varieties are planted here: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A second monopole, Clos de la Perrière, is located in the commune of Corpeau. Behind its old stone wall, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Aligoté are grown. Finally, the third monopole, Clos Orgelot, stands out for its Pommard Premier Cru.

The estate has expanded over the years to cover some 15 hectares of the Côte de Beaune. The Clos du Moulin aux Moines vines are all organically grown. Technological devices have no place in the production of these certified biodynamic wines. The grapes are harvested by hand. Hand-picking optimizes fruit quality for each vintage.

Domaine du Clos du Moulin aux Moines wines

Le Clos du Moulin aux Moines produces organic wines from the Pommard, Auxey-Duresses, Monthelie, Saint-Romain, Bourgogne and Pernand-Vergelesses appellations.

Each cuvée is crafted according to Burgundy traditions. The red wine is vinified in concrete vats, and the white in barrels or casks. To bring out all the characteristics of the terroir, the wine is aged for a minimum of one year. Pinot noir, Pommard Premier Cru and Bourgogne Aligoté develop their aromas in the old cellars of Clos du Moulin aux Moines.
