Today, Domaine Jaeger-Defaix covers 6 hectares. Each parcel is farmed organically. On the one hand, the estate produces a Rully Premier Cru appellation wine on 4.5 hectares. In addition, since 2011, Hélène Jaeger-Defaix has been developing a Rully Village on a 1.5-hectare parcel.
Geographical location of Domaine Jaeger-Defaix
Domaine Jaeger-Defaix is located in Rully, on the Côte Chalonnaise of Burgundy wines, south of the Côte de Beaune. The vines are located on the prestigious Premiers Crus parcels to the west of Rully, at an altitude of between 250 and 300 meters. The red wines are made exclusively from Pinot Noir. White wines are made from Chardonnay.
The soil is worked solely by ploughing and ridging. The steep slope of the vineyard makes the work demanding. But this organic approach is part of a meaningful family tradition.
Domaine Jaeger-Defaix wines
Domaine Jaeger-Defaix wines are mainly Premiers Crus. Our red wines include Rully Premier Cru Préaux and Rully Premier Cru Clos du Chapitre. The latter is an appellation monopole located just behind the family home.
White wines include Rully Premier Cru Mont Palais, Rully Premier Cru Cloux and Rully Premier Cru Rabourcé. Finally, you can also discover Rully Rouge, made from the last parcel of Domaine Jaeger-Defaix.
