A graduate of the Beaune wine school and a trained oenologist, he has extensive technical knowledge of wine. Since joining in 2017, he has been meeting winegrowers on behalf of Caves Carrière. As purchasing manager, he is responsible for selecting the wines.

A meaningful career change
Even before retiring from professional football in 2010, Éric Carrière had already anticipated his career change into the world of wine. Originally from south-west France, his farming grandparents in Ariège passed on to him a love of terroir and the values of the land. In 2002, his meeting with winegrower Stéphane Ogier proved decisive. A strong personal connection gave the two men the idea of acquiring vineyard plots together in Côte Rôtie and Condrieu in 2006. These naturally became the Carrière-Ogier vineyard. It was a passion that would never leave Éric, who became a wine merchant and an essential wine specialist in Dijon. His ability to bring people together, to build a quality collective, as well as his competitive and demanding spirit, also followed him into his new… Carrière!
A meeting,
a duo
Éric founded Caves Carrière in Dijon in 2010. His encounter in Burgundy with Laurent Lignier of Domaine Hubert Lignier led him to become the owner of a vineyard plot in Pommard. In 2013, he was joined by Nicolas Creuzot, who became his partner. Both co-director of Caves Carrière and a specialist in Burgundy wines, Nicolas grew up in a family of merchants specialised in cheese and wine. His grandfather, a wine merchant in Beaune, passed on and taught him his knowledge. Éric and Nicolas came together around this same passion for wine, a taste for good things and shared values. Together, they form a complementary duo driven by challenges.
