Location of Château Haut-Marbuzet
Located in the Médoc, fifty kilometers from Bordeaux, Château Haut-Marbuzet covers 75 hectares. Saint-Estèphe is ideally positioned on the banks of theGironde estuary. The vineyard benefits from a soil composed of gravel (a mixture of sand, clay, gravel and pebbles) and an iron-rich clay-limestone subsoil. The vines are deliberately planted very densely (9,000 vines/ha on average). This results in fewer bunches of grapes per vine and higher-quality grapes. The deeper roots allow us to take full advantage of the typicity of the Saint-Estèphe terroir.
Château Haut-Marbuzet wines
Château Haut-Marbuzet's vines are cultivated using sustainable methods, without the use of chemical fertilizers. The grapes are harvested by hand when they are very ripe, or even overripe. Vinification is carried out using traditional methods in concrete or wooden vats. The wine is aged for 18 months in new oak barrels. This particularity gives Château Haut-Marbuzet wines a highly assertive personality. The result is a generous, smooth red wine. Notes of truffle and wood. Château Haut-Marbuzet lends itself to bottle ageing. A vintage reveals the full richness of the Sainte-Estèphe terroir after ten years or so.
