Château Beauséjour sits atop the Saint-Émilion hillside. Founded in 1851 by winemakers who owned a chain of vineyard estates, the vineyard really took off following its acquisition by a group of wine-loving investors in 1994. By 2004, under the management of Pierre Bernault, a former computer engineer, supported by his children and Stéphane Derenoncourt, one of the world's most eminent wine consultants, the Château was enjoying its best days.

The Château's winemakers are very conservative. In fact, they maintain very traditional approaches to vineyard treatment in order to preserve the original wine quality and terroir-specific flavors. The grapes are harvested by hand and meticulously sorted to ensure that only perfectly ripe grapes are selected.Geographical location

Covering an area of 15 hectares divided into 12 parcels, the vineyard produces its wines from two grape varieties: Merlot, which accounts for 70% of production, and 30% Cabernet Franc.

Rooted in clay-limestone soil, the estate benefits from a remarkable terroir that favors the production of distinctive, avant-garde wines. Château Beauséjour is one of Bordeaux's finest wines.

The wines

The wines undergo a meticulous and precise vinification process, with the reds vinified on a plot-by-plot basis in a cellar away from prying eyes. Vinification takes place in vats whose temperatures are regulated by a system linked to each vat. This system allows complete control of the fermentation process. The ageing period lasts between 12 and 14 months, to give the wine time to establish its own identity.
