In 1994, the Balland and Curtet families acquired their first vineyard in Volnay, Burgundy. The partnership continued with the purchase of new plots. Domaine Balland-Curtet was born. It marked the beginning of a friendship between these two families based on a passion for wine. The Balland family already owned vines in Auxey-Duresses. It was therefore easy to choose Burgundy as the wine-growing region in which to establish their domaine. Domaine Balland-Curtet produces quality red and white wines, with village, regional Burgundy and premier cru appellations.
Location of Balland-Curtet estate
The Balland-Curtet estate is located on the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The vineyards are spread over several villages: Auxey- Duresses, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay, Meursault and Blagny. The exposure, altitude and age of the vines vary greatly from one plot to the next. The soils are predominantly limestone to clay-limestone. This variety creates the richness of the domaine's wines. Cultivation, vinification and ageing can be followed by different wineries. The vines are planted with typical Burgundy grape varieties: pinot noir for red wines and chardonnay for whites.
