Laurence Gagnard and Richard Fontaine founded the Fontaine-Gagnard estate in 1985. Laurence comes from a family of winegrowers who have been working the vines for several centuries. Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard benefits from this family experience and a terroir composed of Grand Cru and Premier Cru. It produces great Burgundy wines, both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Céline Fontaine-Gagnard took over the domaine from her parents in 2007. She is committed to making the most of this exceptional terroir through sustainable vine-growing.

Location of Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard

The Fontaine-Gagnard estate comprises 12 hectares of vines. It is mainly located in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the heart of Burgundy and the Côte de Beaune. It also includes a few parcels in Volnay and Pommard. Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is committed to nurturing its vines all year round, to get the best out of them at harvest time. Each wine reflects its vintage and the great minerality of this Burgundy terroir.

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard wines

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard wines are the result of traditional vin ification: fermentation with indigenous yeasts, settling and aging for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels. The use of new oak is favored for the premier crus and grand crus. The result is wines that are full of finesse, generous and powerful.

Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard boasts an impressive list of grands crus and premiers crus. These include three grands crus in Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Criot Bâtard-Montrachet. The domaine also produces ten premier crus in white Chassagne-Montrachet: La Boudriotte, Les Caillerets, Les Chenevottes, Clos des Murées, Clos St-Jean, La Grande Montagne, La Maltroie, Morgeot, La Romanée and Les Vergers. In red Chassagne Montrachet, the two climats represented are Clos Saint-Jean and Morgeot. The estate's 22 appellations also include a Pommard Premier Cru Les Rugiens and a Volnay Premier Cru Clos des Chênes.
