VAROILLES

Domaine des Varoilles is one of the oldest authenticated vineyards of the great Burgundy wines. Appellation history shows that vines were planted on this terroir before the 12th century. Today, Gilbert Hammel runs the Domaine des Varoilles. His vines are grown using integrated viticulture methods. The wines are matured and bottled at Domaine des Varoilles. Domaine des Varoilles' Gevrey-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin wines are renowned among Burgundy wine lovers.

Geographical location of Domaine des Varoilles

Domaine des Varoilles is located in the villages of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon in the Côte-d'Or. It features a unique Pinot Noir grape variety. As a result, only red wines are produced on the estate. Planted on the hillside between 100 and 380 meters above sea level, the vines benefit from remarkable exposure. The soil of the vineyards is mainly marl.

Thanks to these climatic conditions, the wine produced on the 10 hectares of Domaine des Varoilles is remarkable. The vineyards are spread across the most prestigious crus of the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation. Some climats, such as La Romanée, are even cultivated as a monopoly by Domaine des Varoilles.
