PAOLINI - CLOS LANDRY

Located just a few hundred metres from the bay of Calvi, Clos Landry is a family-owned estate in the Balagne region. The Paolini family has run the estate since its foundation, and Marc Paolini, the current winegrower, represents the fifth generation.

The estate has a long winemaking history: as early as 1900, its slopes of granitic sand were replanted with traditional Corsican grape varieties. Today, all Clos Landry wines are produced under the AOP Corse Calvi appellation.

A vineyard between the sea, granite and maquis

Domaine Clos Landry in Corsica enjoys a location close to the Mediterranean Sea. The vines grow on poor soils of granitic origin, in a landscape where vineyards meet the Corsican maquis.

The proximity of the sea creates a well-ventilated microclimate that contributes to the health of the vines and helps the estate limit treatments. Soil management and the careful use of inputs are among the viticultural practices adopted by Clos Landry. Harvesting is carried out exclusively by hand.

Traditional Corsican grape varieties

The identity of Clos Landry is largely based on the island’s historic grape varieties. Vermentinu, Sciaccarellu and Niellucciu have been grown on the estate since the slopes were replanted at the beginning of the 20th century.

Vermentinu is notably used in the estate’s white wines, while Sciaccarellu is used to produce red wines. Through these grape varieties, the wines remain closely connected to their island origins and the granitic terroirs of the Balagne region.

Wines shaped by their Corsican origins

Much of the estate’s cellar is dug into a granitic hillside, a configuration that naturally helps maintain a suitable temperature for storing the harvest. Clos Landry produces white, red and rosé wines under the AOP Corse Calvi appellation.

The estate maintains a strong connection with Corsican grape varieties, granitic soils and Calvi’s maritime climate. An identity deeply rooted in Balagne and now carried on by the fifth generation of the Paolini family.
