BACHELET-MONNOT

As they like to say, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet were "born in the vineyard". Coming from a family of winegrowers, it was only natural that they should follow the path of the viticultural baccalaureate. After studying oenology in Beaune, they began practicing the art of wine in Burgundy and Côte-Rôtie. Marc went on to perfect his skills as far afield as Australia. In 2005, they created Domaine Bachelet-Monnot, with 4 hectares of family vineyards in Maranges and Santenay. Today, they have joined the elite of the Côte-de-Beaune. They are among the best of the young generation of Burgundy winemakers.

Geographical location of Domaine Bachelet-Monnot

Located at thesouthern end of the Côte-de-Beaune, in Dezize-lès-Maranges, Domaine Bachelet Monnot covers more than twenty hectares. The estate's vines are planted on prestigious terroirs such as Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. The Bachelet brothers prefer to work the vines in a way that respects nature, and have banned all forms of weedkillers from the estate. They draw much of their inspiration from biodynamic and organic agriculture. This is the case when they follow Maria Thun's lunar calendar at key moments in the vineyard.

Domaine Bachelet-Monnot wines

Pinot Noir and Chardonnay take pride of place at Domaine Bachelet-Monnot. White or red, each vintage delivers on its promise. One example is the Maranges Premier Cru La Fussière. As for the whites, we discover intense, chiselled wines. Puligny-Montrachet's cuvées Les Referts and Les Folatières are both classified as Premier Cru. Les Folatières displays remarkable complexity and minerality, with depth and balance. This is a young domaine to watch closely.
