GAUNOUX MICHEL

He was considered one of Pommard's finest winemakers. In 1957, Michel Gaunoux took over the estate created in 1875 by his grandfather, Alexandre Gaunoux. His untimely death in 1984 led to his wife and their son Alexandre taking over the reins of the magnificent Domaine Michel Gaunoux. Without changing the estate's philosophy, the Gaunoux family strives for the perfect balance between power and finesse. Each vintage is only released after three years in the cellar. Domaine Michel Gaunoux undeniably produces exceptional Burgundy wines.

Geographical location of Domaine Michel Gaunoux

The 7 hectares of Domaine Michel Ga unoux are located in the Côte de Beaune, in Pommard, Beaune and Corton. The vines are located in several prestigious appellations. These include Rugiens-Bas and Grands Epenots in Pommard. In Corton, there's the famous lieu-dit Les Renardes. The Beaune vineyards include parcels at Boucherottes, Les Epenottes, Les Prevolles and Beaux Fougets. A Beaune Village is produced by blending the products of these vineyards. Domaine Michel Gaunoux is run in the traditional, family spirit. The vineyard is worked by hand, and the grapes are sorted and destemmed. A long vatting period follows, giving each bottle of wine a rare complexity.

Domaine Michel Gaunoux wines

Domaine Michel Gaunoux produces only red wines, exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes. Of particular note is the exceptional Corton Grand Cru Les Renardes. On the Pommard side, two appellations are classified as Premier Cru, Les Rugiens and Grands Epenots. Domaine Michel Gaunoux produces great wines for laying down. No compromise on quality is possible. The Gaunoux family prefers not to produce a vintage if it is not up to scratch. Add to this the possibility of acquiring older vintages, and you have an exceptional domaine.
