D'AUVENAY

Domaine d'Auvenay represents the culmination of a quest: that of a perfect wine. This project is the brainchild of Lalou Bize-Leroy, daughter of Henri Leroy, founder of the eponymous trading house. Her passion for wine led her to accompany her father in his Burgundy wine trading business, before becoming co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. In 1988, Lalou Bize-Leroy founded Domaine Leroy. Finally, she settled in the Côte de Beaune village of Saint-Romain. It was in this sanctuary of Burgundy's first Gallo-Roman vineyards that she decided to create Domaine d'Auvenay.

Geographical location of Domaine d'Auvenay

The domaine created by Lalou Bize-Leroy is located near Auxey-Duresses and Meursault. It covers four hectares of vines on prestigious plots in the Côte de Beaune (Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet) and Côte de Nuits (Gevrey-Chambertin). White Burgundy wines are made from 90% Chardonnay and 10% Aligoté. Red Burgundy is made from Pinot Noir.

The vines are worked biodynamically, with a systemic approach to each plot. Every living organism has a role to play in the creation of a virtuous ecosystem. For Lalou Bize-Leroy, it's all about making the vines happy by listening to them and respecting their expression. The vines are spread out like liana and wound into braids, at human height . Chemical treatments are replaced by plant decoctions.
