Andrée Trapet embodies the winegrowing profession more than any other: the alliance of wine, terroir and family. Married to Burgundy winemaker Jean-Louis Trapet (Gevrey-Chambertin), she decided in 2002 to take over her parents' Alsace vineyard: 6 hectares of vines located on the Riquewhir terroir.

This passionate winegrower extended the family's vineyards to include 4 Alsace grands crus. Domaine Trapet Alsace now covers 14 hectares. While Andrée Trapet works with wine in the wake of her parents, she is also developing a personal vision of the winegrowing profession, aided by her sons Pierre and Louis Trapet.

Location of Domaine Trapet Alsace

The birthplace of Domaine Trapet Alsace lies in the village of Riquewihr, in the south-central part of the Alsace wine region. Andrée Trapet's vineyards cover 4 Grand Cru appellations: Sonnenglanz, Schoenenbourg, Sporen and Schlossberg. Situated on hills between 200 and 400 meters above sea level, they benefit from maximum sunshine and rich, varied soils (limestone, marl and clay). The vines of these lieux-dits flourish around the famous villages of Riquewihr, Kientzheim, Mittelwihr, Zellenberg, Hunawihr and Beblenheim.

Domaine Trapet Alsace wines

Domaine d'Andrée Trapet produces Alsace white wines mainly from Riesling (48%), Gewurztraminer (36%), Sylvaner (8%) Pinot Gris (6%) and Muscat blanc à petits grains (2%). The domaine's range includes 4 Grands Crus: Schoenenbourg, Schlossberg, Sonnenglanz Gewurztraminer, Sonnenglanz Pinot Gris and Sporen Gewurztraminer.

Then come the Villages B.B.H.M. Beblenheim Riesling, R.Q.W.R. Riquewihr Riesling, K.T.Z.M Kientzheim Riesling, B.B.H.M. Beblenheim Gewurztraminer and R.Q.W.R. Riquewihr Gewurztraminer. Finally, 3 Alsace appellations and 4 Macérés (Ambre) complete the range. All Domaine Trapet Alsace wines have been produced biodynamically since 2003.
