Domaine Graillot is the story of its founder's successful reconversion. Alain Graillot, an electrochemical engineer, left a senior position in Paris to create the wine he loved. Self-taught, he bought his own estate in 1985. He learned from winemakers in the Rhône Valley. In 1989, he released his first vintage.

Today, the domaine enjoys an international reputation. The Crozes-Hermitage cuvée La Guiraude has become a benchmark. Thanks to his hard work and commitment, Alain Graillot has contributed to the renaissance of a terroir.

His sons Maxime and Antoine now perpetuate this vision of viticulture: low yields, light ploughing and no herbicides. These traditional methods contribute to the purity and authenticity of the domaine's wines.

Geographical location of Domaine Graillot Alain

Domaine Graillot Alain is located on the former Domaine des Chênes Verts in Pont-de-l'Isère , south of Tain-l'Hermitage. The terroir consists of the alluvial plains of the Rhône and Isère rivers, with pebbles and sand. The vines flourish particularly on the Châssis plateau, which has become the epicenter of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation.

The estate covers 22 hectares of vines. 19 hectares are planted with Syrah. The 3 hectares dedicated to white wine are planted with Marsanne (80%) and Roussanne (20%). Domaine Graillot Alain has also continued to expand with the purchase of plots in the Beaujolais region.

Domaine Graillot Alain wines

Domaine Graillot Alain produces mainly red and whiteCrozes-Hermitage appellation wines. Since 1990, each vintage of Cuvée La Guiraude has been an event. The estate also produces a red Saint-Joseph.

Domaine Graillot wines have great ageing potential. Their renowned quality makes them highly sought-after wines, especially since yields are deliberately low.
