Domaine Jean-Marc Roulot, a benchmark for Meursault and highly sought-after wines. Jean-Marc Roulot, Guy Roulot's son, took over the family domaine in 1989. Guy Roulot worked alongside Dominique Lafon and Coche-Dury, a true sharing of knowledge on the part of these three men for several years, leading to the growing renown of the domaine. Today, Jean-Marc Roulot is accompanied by Eric Bodin, the Domaine's cellar master.

The entire estate is run biodynamically on some 15 hectares of vines. Vineyard work, vinification and ageing are meticulous, respecting the age of the vines, which were replanted in the 1950s. Yields are strictly controlled, and each plot is treated with the utmost care. When it comes to vinification and ageing, Jean-Marc and Eric have only one watchword: to intervene as little as possible while mastering these processes perfectly, leaving the wine to express itself purely and naturally. Some wines are vinified separately, such as the Meursault Village, a choice justified by a desire to restore the singularity and character of each wine. As an example, Domaine Roulot's flagship cuvée is its Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrières, purchased by the family in 1976.

Jean-Marc Roulot is also renowned for his appearance in Cédric Klapisch's film Ce qui nous lie, part of which was shot at Domaine Roulot. The film is a perfect illustration of Jean-Marc's winemaking expertise and the Burgundian culture that goes with it.

Location of the domaine

Neighboring Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, Domaine Roulot is located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune region, planted mainly with white Chardonnay grapes. In Meursault, Domaine Roulot occupies several properties, particularly in the Premiers Crus such as Charmes, Perrières and Les Bouchères. Near Meursault, the Domaine owns Les Champs Fulliots, in Monthélie. These are very small parcels, much sought-after by wine enthusiasts! On the Village side of Meursault, the vineyard extends over Les Luchets and Les Tessons Clos de Mon Plaisir, the latter a parcel located at an altitude of almost 300 meters.

The domaine's wines

Chardonnay is Roulot's signature grape variety, worked so that it can be enjoyed even after several years. A highly recognized quality of Jean-Marc Roulot's is his ability to age his wines consistently. The Domaine also produces wines in other styles: Aligoté, Bourgogne Blanc, Bourgogne Rouge, Auxey-Duresses Premier Cru, for example. Jean-Marc Roulot's reds represent around 15% of total production, and are made from the famous Pinot Noir grape.

Premier Cru Les Perrières is the estate's flagship cuvée. The Chardonnay gives this cuvée aromas of white pepper and citron. A long, mineral mouthfeel gives Chardonnay its purity and freshness. Terroir transparency guaranteed!
