The Liger-Belair family has been involved in viticulture and wine trading since the XVIIIᵉ century. The estate's vineyards have belonged to the Liger-Belair family since that time. Until the early 2000s, the estate's plots were farmed on a sharecropping basis. In 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair took over the family estate, after several years studying oenology. The Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair is a growing benchmark for viticulture in its home region of Burgundy. The domaine also produces wine from harvests of other parcels.

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair is located in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The eight hectares of vines are located in five communes of this Burgundy region. This particularity lends a singular richness and complexity to the terroir of Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. These characteristics are reflected in the estate's wines. The soils are clayey-limestone, marly or stony, sometimes rich in ferrous elements. The altitude and exposure of the vines also vary considerably from one plot to the next.

For Thibault Liger-Belair, wine quality depends on respect for the vineyard and the soil. He puts himself at the service of the vines, to help them express their full potential. The grape varieties grown on the estate are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Cuvées and vintages are treated differently according to the needs of the appellation.

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair produces some of the finest red wines: Richebourg, Clos de Vougeot, Charmes-Chambertin Aux Charmes, Corton Les Renardes and Clos du Roi. There are also Premiers Crus: Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges, Aloxe-Corton La Toppe au Vert, Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers. The Hautes-Côtes de Nuits and Vosne-Romanée appellations are also represented. In white, the estate's most prestigious appellation is Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru Les Languettes.
