OSTERTAG

Domaine Olivier Ostertag was founded in 1966 by Adolphe Ostertag, a man with a passion for vines and a fervent defender of Lower Rhine wine appellations. He soon entrusted it to his son André, who was only 21 at the time. Today, the Ostertag family is one of the great names in Alsatian winegrowing. The estate covers around 15 hectares, mostly in the village of Epfig. Among the many grape varieties grown in the region (Riesling, Muscat, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir), Riesling dominates, with over 50% of the vineyard dedicated to it, and is the pride of the estate.

Biodynamic for almost 20 years, the estate's aim is to work in harmony with nature and to focus on the authenticity and expression of each plot. It also chooses to enhance the value of the region by using oak barrels from the Vosges forest. Barrels are preferred to stainless steel vats to develop the Pinot's aromas. The labels are largely designed by his wife, Christine, but André sometimes lets his artistic inspiration run free to create a few of his own! In 2018, his son Arthur joined the adventure and took over the reins of the estate. He has injected a new impetus and is already bringing his own touch to the many cuvées on offer.

The estate's geographical location

André farms fine terroirs such as Zellberg and Fronholz, parcels of land near the village of Epfig, as well as Clos Mathis, located in Ribeauvillé.

Estate wines

The estate's wines, sublime in their aromatic bouquet , are intense and full of complexity. The Rieslings are bursting with energy, the Pinot Gris wines are voluptuous and delicate, and the Gewurztraminers have a superb spicy finish.
