CHÂTEAU CHEVAL BLANC

Château Cheval Blanc is a legendary wine estate in Bordeaux. Since 1954, this Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the Saint-Émilion appellation has been synonymous with prestige and excellence. Its red wine is recognized and sought-after by connoisseurs the world over. Founded in the 15th century, Château Cheval Blanc won its first gold medal in 1878 at the Paris Universal Exhibition, followed by a second in 1886 at the Antwerp Universal Exhibition. Owned by the Fourcaud-Laussac family for over 150 years, Château Cheval Blanc today belongs to Bernard Arnault and Albert Frère. Pierre Lurton manages the estate.

Château Cheval Blanc is located in Saint-Émilion on the right bank, 50 km from Bordeaux. 39 hectares of vines benefit from an exceptional terroir consisting of a natural mosaic. 45 parcels of vines are planted on the outskirts ofPomerol. The soils are composed of clay and gravel, while others have a sandy texture. Château Cheval Blanc has chosen an original grape variety that is rare in AOC Saint-Émilion. 52% Cabernet Franc, 43% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon are grown by the winegrowers using sustainable viticulture methods. The Château Cheval Blanc vines are 42 years old.

Château Cheval Blanc red wines are complex. They combine power, elegance and softness. Its terroir and the original grape varieties planted on the different parcels of vines produce great vintages with smooth, velvety tannins. The red wine, made from gravelly vines, gives each vintage more aromatic notes and finesse. The first wine is Château Cheval Blanc, the second wine, Le Petit Cheval. Le Petit Cheval Blanc is its first white wine. Each Château vintage reveals its full potential after a few years' cellaring. A bottle of Château Cheval Blanc can also be enjoyed in its youth.
