MOREY-COFFINET

Domaine Morey-Coffinet, located in Chassagne-Montrachet in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, embodies a family history deeply rooted in the Burgundy winegrowing tradition. It was founded in 1980 by Fabienne Coffinet and Michel Morey, who brought together the vineyards of their respective families - Coffinet-Pillot and Morey, both of whom come from historic lineages in the winegrowing region.

The estate's first harvest took place in 1981, the year their youngest son, Thibault Morey, was born, and he joined the adventure in 2000. With him, a new dynamic took shape, combining respect for the family heritage with a modern, demanding and responsible approach to viticulture.

An exceptional vineyard at the heart of Burgundy's great whites

The Domaine Morey-Coffinet vineyard covers 9 hectares, 80% of which is planted with Chardonnay and 20% with Pinot Noir. It covers some of the finest terroirs in Chassagne-Montrachet, with predominantly clay-limestone soils, and ideal exposure on hillsides and plateaus.

Emblematic parcels include :

- Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru,
- Les Blanchot-Dessus,
- La Romanée,
- Dent de Chien,
- And other remarkable Chassagne-Montrachet Premiers Crus.

These Climats give birth to wines of great mineral intensity and vibrant energy, built for ageing and imbued with a pure, lively character, true to the house style.

Demanding organic viticulture inspired by biodynamics

From the 2000s onwards, under the impetus of Thibault Morey, the domaine moved towards more environmentally-friendly viticulture. In 2002, herbicides were abandoned, and after three years of transition, the vineyard obtained Organic Agriculture certification (Ecocert) in 2018.

But the commitment goes further:

- Since 2015, the estate has applied biodynamic principles, with treatments based on horn dung, silica and herbal teas from plants grown on site.
- Since 2021, the most prestigious plots have been ploughed with a horse, without trimming, to encourage the natural balance of the vines.
- In 2023, the team introduceseco-pasturing with Morvan ewes to gently and naturally weed the vines.
- A 100% electric tractor is used to preserve soil structure.
- Pruning wood is recycled locally in Meursault to enrich the estate's virtuous cycle.

These practices reflect a global philosophy based on observation, intuition and patience - where every gesture aims to reveal the potential of terroirs without constraining them.

Expressive, precise and deeply alive wines

In the cellar as in the vineyard, winemaking is gentle and non-interventionist. The ripeness of the berries, rigorous selection by hand, and the constant care given to Guyot-Poussard pruning, disbudding and leaf thinning, guarantee healthy, concentrated, balanced grapes.

The estate's white wines are distinguished by their crystalline purity, silky texture and mineral length. The red wines, made from Pinot Noir grapes, reveal freshness, fine structure and a silky mouthfeel, in an elegant, easy-to-digest style.

Today,Domaine Morey-Coffinet is driven by a clear vision: to produce auteur wines from great terroirs, with a deep respect for the living world. Cuvées designed to move, age gracefully, and speak to the soul of Burgundy.
