BARTHOD GHISLAINE

Domaine Barthod Ghislaine is located in Chambolle-Musigny on the Côte de Nuits. Founded in 1920, it has been run since 1999 by Ghislaine following the death of her father. Together with her son Clément, she practises low-intervention viticulture, giving pride of place to the terroir. Traditional winemaking techniques and 20 months' barrel ageing enable Domaine Barthod Ghislaine to produce wines whose finesse and intensity of color are a credit to the Burgundy region. Chambolle-Musigny premier cru Les Charmes, Les Cras, Aux Beaux Bruns and Les Chatelots are illustrious examples.

Domaine Barthod Ghislaine covers six hectares. Most of the vines are over 30 years old and are located in the Chambolle-Musigny AOC. The Chambolles-Musigny premiers crus Les Baudes, Veroilles, Les Fuées and Les Cras are located close to the Bonnes-Mares grand cru appellation. These wines express the characteristics of the prestigious neighboring climate. Domaine Barthod Ghislaine relies on low yields, producing around 30,000 bottles a year. Other remarkable appellations include Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots with its blackberry aromas, Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes and Chambolle-Musigny Aux beaux Bruns.

Domaine Ghislaine Barthod's red wines are made from pinot noir grapes. Chambolle-Musigny premier cru Aux Beaux Bruns is a harmonious red wine. Its nose of red fruit and flowers is balanced by a palate of fine tannins. Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras is intense. Its nose of red fruit and licorice is the perfect accompaniment to a full-bodied palate with pronounced tannins. Other Premiers Crus complete the Domaine Barthod Ghislaine wine list, including Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées, Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes, Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers and Chambolle-Musigny Aux Combottes.
