Domaine Jamet is the successful promotion of a great Rhône Valley wine: Côte Rôtie. A confidential vineyard in its early days, the estate was driven by the desire to produce a wine of excellence. Joseph, the grandfather, bottled his first harvest in 1976. Then Jean-Paul, his son, developed the estate through meticulous blending of the vineyard's wines.

His two children, Fanny and Loïc, now work the steep hillside terraces alongside him. The philosophy remains the same. Domaine Jamet has a signature that the wines reveal: a unique blend of aromas derived from the diversity of the terroirs and their exposure.

Geographical location of Domaine Jamet

The Jamet family estate is located on the Ampuis plateau, at Le Vallin. The vineyard extends over 25 parcels for a total of 17 hectares in the Rhône Valley. In particular, it covers the Côte Brune. These hills represent one of the two terroirs of Côte Rôtie along the right bank of the Rhône.

The soils are predominantly schist and granite. The south-southeast exposure explains the appellation name of these terraces clinging to steep slopes. In 2015, Jean-Paul Jamet purchased a parcel in theCondrieu appellation at Côte de Châtillon to extend the vineyard and wine range.

Domaine Jamet wines

The domaine produces some of the finest wines in the Rhône Valley: Côte Rôtie Fructus Voluptas, Côte Rôtie La Landonne and Côte Rôtie Brune. The latter is a red wine made from a single parcel of 30-year-old vines. Domaine Jamet also produces a white Condrieu cuvée Vernillon, as well as red and white Côtes du Rhône.

Domaine Jamet wines are aged in barrel for an average of 20 months. The grapes come mainly from Syrah vines. Viognier, a typical white wine grape variety, is found in particular on the Condrieu plot.
