Damien, son of Philippe Livera, manages since 2007 the family domain located in Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy. He represents the fourth generation of the family of Mathé Livera, his great-grandfather, an Italian mason who arrived in the Côte-d'Or in 1920. Formerly called Domaine des Tilleuls, Damien's business has carried his father's name since 2015, Domaine Philippe Livera. His sister Hélène joined him in 2016 to take charge of the commercial aspects of the business. The family adventure of the vineyard in Burgundy continues.
Geographical location of the Domaine Philippe Livera
The Domaine Philippe Livera includes almost 9 hectares of vines, spread over forty parcels in the Côte de Nuits. Damien practices integrated agriculture on these lands located on the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin, Brochon and Fixin. The vineyard is planted mainly with Pinot Noir. The clay-limestone soils allow the production of wines of character, with a lot of diversity according to the climates. The sorting of the grapes begins in the vineyard and continues on the table. The vinification is done in concrete tanks. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months. Damien renews the barrels every 4 years to prevent the wood from clogging.
The wines of the Domaine Philippe Livera
The Domaine Philippe Livera, thanks to the variety of its soils, offers wines for aging, but also more modern wines to be enjoyed at any age. It produces a Grand Cru, the Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru. The other red wines of the domain are Villages appellations, like Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs and Côtes de Nuits Villages. As for the Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Village, it is the flagship production of Damien Livera. On 1.5 hectares of vines, he produces this typical wine of the Gevrey-Chambertin commune, an elegant and structured wine to keep. Let's not forget also the other red wines that are Marsannay and Fixin. Finally, the domain also produces white wine from Burgundy on a very small parcel planted with Burgundy Chardonnay.
