Maison Deutz is the fruit of several encounters. The first was that of two Prussian immigrants to Champagne in the 1830s: William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann. The second was their encounter with the wines of Champagne. The third was their encounter with a terroir. In 1838, the two men opened a Champagne trading house in Aÿ.

Then, eager to produce their own champagnes, the two partners gradually bought hectares of vines. The company grew and aimed to produce Champagne wines of consistent quality. Their style asserts itself: consistency, complexity and typicity. Maison Roederer noticed the success of Maison Deutz and bought it in 1996.

Geographical location of Maison Deutz

Maison Deutz owns nearly 350 hectares of vines. It also buys grapes from 200 hectares of plots. 80% of our champagnes come from Grand Cru and Premier Cru parcels. The grapes for white champagnes are 100% Chardonnay. Pinot Noir (65%) and Pinot Meunier (35%) are used for the reds.

The Maison Deutz vineyards stretch over 6 communes: Oui, Bisseuil, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Moussy, Pierre and Villeneuve-Renneville. The different grape varieties flourish on two main terroirs: the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs.

Maison Deutz wines

Two vintage cuvées pay tribute to the Deutz family: Amour de Deutz and Cuvée William Deutz. A non-vintage champagne, the Cuvée Brut Classic white or rosé testifies to the consistency and regularity of champagne from the Maison Deutz. Finally, a vintage Blanc de Blancs cuvée completes these champagnes.
The quest for perfection has been the driving force behind this house since 1838. The blending of champagnes is the result of a subtle marriage of traditional know-how and technical rigor.
