The House of Philipponnat shines in Champagne, and its name is intimately linked to that of the Clos des Goisses, the largest of the Champagne clos (nearly 5.5 hectares). The least we can say is that Philipponnat champagnes have personality! Thanks to judicious choices on the maturity of the grapes and on the wine making techniques, the style of the wines keeps its nerve and its balance!
Among the nuggets praised by our wine merchants: the Grand Blanc Extra-Brut 2010: A 100% Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs and the village of Verzy! Aged between seven and nine years in order to obtain the greatest complexity of the wine and to bring out the secondary and tertiary aromas, marks of the prolonged ageing on lees! The Grand Blanc cuvée, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, is an exception in the range of Philipponnat wines, which has made Pinot Noir its signature!
And the 1999 Réserve Millésimé Brut Long Vieillissement, because at Philipponnat, older vintages are kept "on point" in the cellars and disgorged on demand after long aging. In this case, this 1999 vintage was disgorged in October 2019!
