Domaine Henri Germain & Fils is renowned for producing some of the finest wines in the Meursault appellation, a great name in Burgundy wines. Founded in 1973, this family-run estate produces its wines with respect for tradition. Its wines require patience and a few years' cellaring to express all their qualities.
Location of Domaine Henri Germain & Fils
Located in the village of Meursault, Domaine Henri Germain & Fils is in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. The estate comprises eight hectares of vines, mainly in Meursault. This terroir benefits from a soil composed of limestone marl. The remaining parcels are located in the communes of Beaune and Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyard is planted mainly with Chardonnay, with a few parcels of Pinot Noir.
Domaine Henri Germain & Fils wines
The vines of Domaine Henri Germain & Fils are grown using sustainable agriculture methods. Grapes are harvested by hand, and vinification is traditional. Red wines are entirely destemmed, except in exceptional vintages. Fermentation takes place naturally, and can last up to a month. No more than 25% of the wine is aged in new barrels. This lasts 18 months for Village appellation wines and 22 months for crus.
White wines make up three quarters of Domaine Henri Germain & Fils production. Many of these white wines are classified Premiers Crus. Among them are the Meursault Premiers Crus Les Charmes, Les Perrières and Les Poruzots. Alongside them, the domaine offers a Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot Les Fairendes. In the Village appellation, it produces Meursault Le Limozin and Les Chevalières. The domaine also offers a Bourgogne Blanc and a Bourgogne Aligoté.
For red wines, Domaine Henri Germain & Fils produces Beaune Premier Cru Les Bressandes. The domaine also offers the excellent Meursault Clos des Mouches Monopole, as well as a Chassagne-Montrachet.
