Suntory was founded in 1899 by Shinjiro Torii. The company markets a variety of spirits. It is a pioneer in Japanese whisky production and distribution in Japan. In particular, it established the first Japanese whisky distillery, Yamazaki, back in 1923. In 2014, Suntory acquired the American Beam Group, making it the world's third-largest spirits company. Chief blender Koichi Inatomi is the creator of Suntory's finest whiskies.

Suntory's geographical location

Suntory was founded in the Osaka region of Japan. Today, it comprises three active distilleries. The oldest is the Yamazaki distillery, located between Osaka and Kyoto. It is renowned for the purity of its spring water. The Hakushu distillery, founded in 1973, is located south of the Japanese Alps, in a natural environment of forests and mountains. The Chita distillery is located a few kilometers from the city of Nagoya, in Aichi prefecture. Yamazaki and Hakushu are two malt whisky distilleries. Chita is dedicated to the distillation of grain whisky.

Suntory whiskies

Yamazaki Single Malt 12 Year Old is a subtle, refined single malt whisky produced in Yamazaki. It's the perfect introduction to Japanese whiskies. The Chita N.V. is the only grain whisky produced as such by Suntory. It is a blend of cereals, mainly corn. Its notes are similar to those of American whiskies. Suntory Toki Whisky is the most American of Japanese whiskies. It is mainly made with Chita grain whiskies and Hakushu single malt.
