CHÂTEAU VALANDRAUD
Price €185.00 75 cl

In 1991, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud bought a 0.6-hectare vineyard to create Château Valandraud. This château, located in the Saint-Émilion appellation in Gironde, is the brainchild of two Bordeaux wine lovers. With the success of Château Valandraud's first vintages, the vineyard expanded. Château Valandraud produces exceptional vintages with hand-picked, densimetrically sorted grapes. Michel Rolland and Jean-Philippe Fort provide invaluable advice for each vintage of this Saint-Émilion premier Grand Cru classé.

Geographical location of Château Valandraud

The first 0.6-hectare parcel of Château Valandraud is located in the Fongaban valley. The 10-hectare vineyard is now located in the communes of Saint-Étienne-de-Lisse and Saint-Sulpice-de-Faleyrens. Château Valandraud's vines are planted on various types of clay-limestone and silica-gravel soils. The château is located on the right bank of the Dordogne, east of Bordeaux. The oceanic climate, with very few frosts, enables the grapes to be harvested at full maturity. This vineyard enjoys an exceptional location in the Bordeaux region.

Château Valandraud wines

Château Valandraud produces three red wines and two white wines. The first Grand Cru classé Château Valandraud is made from three grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon). The second wine, Virginie de Valandraud, was created in 1992. This soon became a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, giving way to another second wine: 3 de Valandraud. The château also produces two dry white wines. These are made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris. The dry white wines are Blanc de Valandraud N°1 and Blanc de Valandraud N°2.
