BIZE SIMON

In 1880, Simon Bize started a small vineyard in Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy. Since then, know-how has been handed down from father to son. Five generations have honed their skills to produce exceptional wines every year. The terroir, the exposure of the plots and the quality of the work of these passionate winemakers give each wine a distinct harmony. Domaine Simon Bize produces vintage after vintage two Grand Cru appellations: Corton Charlemagne and Latricières Chambertin. It also produces Premiers Crus, such as Les Perrières and Aux Vergelesses.

Location of Domaine Simon Bize & Fils

The estate, with almost 25 hectares of vines, adjoins the communes of Beaune and Aloxe in the heart of Burgundy. The very stony soil is ideal for Les Champlains white wine. The limestone and sandy marl soil is ideal for the red Premier Cru Aux Vergelesses. Savigny-lès-Beaune has long been renowned for its red wine. However, in 1996, the estate expanded to offer a wider range of whites. The vines are planted on the sometimes steep slopes of the Burgundy hills.

Domaine Simon Bize & Fils wines

Domaine de Bize white wines are mainly Chardonnay, with a touch of Pinot Beurot in some cases. Corton Charlemagne is a Grand Cru whose Chardonnay vines were planted in 1938. One of the estate's Premiers Crus is a white wine: Aux Vergelesses. The white Savigny-lès-Beaunes joined Les Champlains and Les Perrières in 1996.

Tannins assert themselves with wines such as Les Fournaux, Aux Grands Liards and Les Marconnets. Grand Cru Latricières Chambertin comes from a marl-limestone terroir. The Premiers Crus are numerous: Les Serpentières, Les Talmettes, Aux Guettes, Les Fournaux and Aux Marconnets.
