Yvon Métras is one of the pioneers of natural wine in the Beaujolais vineyards. He shares the vision of Marcel Lapierre and Jean Foillard. Together, these winegrowers aim to propose a different model of viticulture and vinification. Each on his own estate, they work the vines with total respect for nature.

The Domaine de Yvon Métras is a small vineyard of 5 hectares. The winemaker took over this family estate in 1988. And since 2014, his son Jules has been helping him produce one of Beaujolais' most renowned Fleurie wines.

Geographical location of Domaine Métras Yvon

Yvon Métras wines are all made from Gamay grapes. The estate is located in Fleurie. This village is emblematic of this unique Beaujolais red wine. The Fleurie appellation dates back to 1936. Nicknamed " Little Tuscany", the Fleurie terroir covers some 900 hectares of vines. They flourish on gentle slopes, but also steep ones (50%) to the east and south.

Fleurie winemakers work vines protected by the Avenas, Durbize and Labourons ridges. The soils are mainly granitic. They give the wine all its finesse. The landmark of the Fleurie vineyards is the Chapelle de la Madone, the highest point of the terroir at 425 meters above sea level.

Domaine Métras Yvon wines

On five hectares of vines, yields remain confidential. However, the exceptional management of the vineyards has earned Domaine Métras Yvon a place on the list of the best Fleurie wines in Beaujolais. All the wines come from vines worked by hand to biodynamic and organic specifications. Vinification is by carbonic maceration, without the addition of sulfite.

Domaine Métras Yvon traditionally produces 3 major Fleurie cuvées: Printemps, Vieilles Vignes and Ultime. The domaine also produces a cuvée of Beaujolais and a cuvée of Moulin-à-vent.
