CHÂTEAU SMITH HAUT LAFITTE

The history of Château Smith Haut Lafitte began in the 14th century in the Bordeaux wine region. More precisely, on the hills (lafitte in old French) of Martillac, south-east of Pessac and Léognan. In the 17th century, the property passed into the hands of George Smith. In 1842, the property was bequeathed to Martin Duffour Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux. A century later, Château Smith Haut Lafitte (Pessac Léognan) was officially classified as a Graves Grand Cru. Since 1990, Daniel and Florence Cathiard have been at the helm of this prestigious estate on the outskirts of Bordeaux.
