Cardhu is located in County Moray, Scotland. It is one of the region's oldest and most renowned whisky producers. Its history begins with the Cumming family. In 1824, John Cumming made his whisky production legal and founded the Cardhu distillery. His wife Helen improved the malt, achieving a characteristic roundness and intensity. In 1872, their daughter-in-law Elizabeth had a new distillery built and enlarged, then sold it to John Walker & Sons in 1893. Today, the Cardhu distillery is part of the Diageo group. Malt-making know-how is passed on from master distiller to master distiller within the distillery. Cardhu whisky enriches our range of spirits.

Location of Cardhu

The Cardhu distillery is located in Speyside, the center of the Scotch whisky industry. It was originally situated on top of Mannoch Hill, on the banks of the River Spey. John Cumming used the water from the River Spey and the barley he grew. This style was quickly copied by surrounding distilleries. The result is Speyside, the birthplace and emblematic region of Scottish whisky.

Cardhu whiskies

Cardhu whisky is a single malt whisky with a fruity, malty taste and a mellow mouthfeel. It's a premium whisky, the perfect ambassador for Speyside whiskies. The whiskies produced by the house come in different age declinations: 12 years, 15 years, 18 years. Since 2014, the house has been moving towards the production of ageless whiskies, such as Amber Rock or Gold Reserve. Amber Rock is aged in bourbon-aged American oak casks. The 18-year-old version stands out from the other whiskies produced by being aged in sherry casks.
