Domaine Cerbanoia was founded in Tuscany in 1977 by Diego Molinari, a former Alitalia airline pilot. He planted vines from another Italian winery, Domaine Biondi-Santi. His aim is to bring honor to the wine of the Montalcino region. The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine is unfiltered. Since 2015, Domaine Cerbaiona has been owned by a group of American investors with a passion for wine. While remaining true to the spirit of Cerbaiona, they bring a modern touch to this wine representative of Tuscany andItaly.

Geographical location of Domaine Cerbaiona

Domaine Cerbaiona is located on a ridge 400 meters above sea level, northeast of Montalcino in Italy. It extends over three hectares of vines and twelve hectares of woods and olive groves. The Sangiovese grape particularly reveals the exceptional character of this privileged Tuscan location. The slightly sandy, clayey schist soils are ideal for creating great wines. Thanks to this protected location, the estate benefits from a great terroir. Domaine Cerbaiona lies in an intermediate zone between the north and south of the region, where wines of the DOCG Brunello di Montalcino appellation are produced.

Domaine Cerbaiona wines

Domaine Cerbaiona produces red wines, mainlyDOCG Brunello di Montalcino. Smaller quantities of Rosso di Montalcino are also produced. Brunello di Montalcino wines are made from Sangiovese, the grape variety characteristic of this region of Italy. Brunello di Montalcino is aged for 30 months in oak barrels. The result is a dense, powerful wine with pronounced tannins. Rosso di Montalcino is also 100% Sangiovese. Barrel ageing lasts 18 months. Toscana IGT is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
