Virginie and Romain Taupenot, brother and sister, now manage the domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis, Burgundy, in the heart of the famous Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Faithful to the family winegrowing tradition since the mid-17th century, they took over from their parents, Denise Merme and Jean Taupenot. Eager to improve the quality of the wines they produce, they have constantly improved their techniques. The result is well-balanced wines that reflect the terroir, always respecting the principles oforganic farming.

Geographical location of Domaine Taupenot-Merme

Domaine Taupenot-Merme is located in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune regions. It comprises over 13 hectares dedicated to the production of some twenty appellations. The parcels are divided between 11 hectares of vines planted with Pinot Noir and nearly 2 hectares of Chardonnay for white wine. Virginie and Romain Taupenot use precision pruning and ploughing. The grapes are harvested by hand and aged in oak barrels. The result is great wines from 19 climats, including four Grands Crus, six Premiers Crus and seven Villages.

Domaine Taupenot-Merme wines

Domaine Taupenot-Merme white wines include Bourgogne Aligoté, Auxey-Duresses and Saint-Romain. Red Pinot Noir makes up the bulk of production. There are four Grands Crus: Clos des Lambrays, Charmes-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin in Côte de Nuits, and the famous Corton Le Rognet in Côte de Beaune. There are also six Premiers Crus de Bourgogne, including Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Bel Air and Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Les Pruliers.

In AOC Village wines, the domaine produces Bourgogne Rouge, Charmes-Chambertin Rouge and Bourgogne Passetoutgrain Rouge, to name but a few. All of these fresh-tasting, authentic wines can be enjoyed straight away.
