HAAG JEAN-MARIE

Jean-Marie Haag is a winemaker with a passion for his terroir. Accompanied by his wife Myriam, they work together to produce wines that reflect their personality. They work their vines using integrated viticulture methods. Anyone who has crossed their path will tell you that they are so passionate about their profession that you can inevitably feel it in their wines. They constantly observe their thirty or so plots to understand their needs. Weeding, ploughing and limiting yields to enable the vines to reach their peak of quality. Harvesting is carried out by hand, over a period of one month to achieve perfect ripeness, and a plot-by-plot selection is carried out with the utmost precision. The cellar is the place to be for Jean-Marie. His primary aim is to produce concentrated, well-balanced wines.

Location of the estate

The estate is located in Soultzmatt, Alsace, in the heart of the Vallée Noble, some twenty kilometers south of Colmar. Jean-Marie cultivates 7.5 hectares of vines on well-exposed terroirs, protecting them from storms and wind. The slope of the terroirs provides excellent exposure to the sun. In autumn, the nights are cool and the winds are drying. A climate conducive to vine-growing, and that's a good thing!

Estate wines

Jean-Marie and Myriam cultivate several Alsatian grape varieties; Gewurztraminer is in the majority, along with Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Jean-Marie offers wines with a varied aromatic palette and freshness. Fresh, delicate and full-bodied, with remarkable ageing potential! The Pinot Gris offers a bouquet of fruity aromas and remarkable citrus notes. The Gewurztraminer is fresh, with notes of pear and lemon zest. It's a well-structured wine with a beautiful salinity on the finish. Pinot Blanc is dry and light, with smoky aromas. Its honeyed aromas give it a delicate spirit.
