CHÂTEAU CLIMENS
Price 91,67 € 75 cl

Since 1971, the Château Climens is the property of the Lurton family. This vineyard is located in the south-east of Bordeaux. Lucien Lurton buys the Château Climens from Eloi Lacoste. In 1992, Bérénice Lurton, Lucien's daughter, took over the management of the vineyard. The exceptional work of the vine, provided by this family, allows to produce one of the best sweet white wines of the Bordeaux region. This white wine is classified Premier Cru of Sauternes Barsac in 1855. The vineyard in organic culture is a first in the wine region of Bordeaux. The Château Climens is nicknamed "the Lord of Barsac".

Geographical location of Château Climens

The Château Climens is located at the top of the village of Barsac, on the left bank of the Garonne. The vineyard of 30 hectares is located on a limestone and red sand soil. The commune of Barsac is located on the left bank of the Ciron. The Barsac appellation is the only one to be recognized among the white wines of the Sauternes appellation. The vines are composed only of Semillon. Bérénice Lurton produces excellent vintages that are recognized as being among the best of the Bordeaux region.

The wines of Château Climens

The Château Climens produces three exceptional white wines. The Château Climens is a sweet white wine produced from Semillon. This Sauternes Barsac Premier Cru is a worldwide reference. The second wine, which is called Cyprès de Climens, is made exclusively from Semillon. The third wine, Asphodèle, is a dry white wine of great quality, different from the other two wines of the Climens estate. It is an atypical wine that stands out on this terroir where the sweet white wines of Sauternes are king. The first vintage of this dry white wine is produced in 2018.
