Domaine Vacheron wines illustrate one family's vision for the Sancerre appellation. Maurice Vacheron founded the estate with one hectare of vines in the early 1900s. His son Jean extended the vineyard and developed a qualitative approach to growing Pinot Noir. His aim was to reveal the full complexity of Sancerre terroirs, in the same way as Burgundy crus. This approach is unprecedented for Loire Valley wines.

Domaine Vacheron gradually developed according to a parcel-by-parcel approach. It took off with Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron in the early 2000s. Their organic vineyard management, and biodynamic vi ticulture since 2008, contributes to enhancing the specificity of each terroir. The wines are now sold all over the world.

Geographical location of Domaine Vacheron

Today, the Vacheron family vineyard covers 48 hectares in Sancerre. The vines are located on either side of the geological fault of the Sancerre hills. The vines thrive on two main types of soil: flint and limestone. The vines are planted with Sauvignon Blanc for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds.

The plot-by-plot approach adopted by the winemakers brings out the best in very different lieux-dits. Cuvée Belle Dame, for example, comes from vines planted on flinty soil with south-east exposure. Cuvée Guigne Chèvres comes from north-facing chalky soil.

Domaine Vacheron produces white and red wines in the Sancerre appellation. The estate's recognized wines include seven parcel-based cuvées. The Sauvignon Blanc cuvées Les Romains , Paradis, Chambrates and Grands Champs are sure to delight Sancerre enthusiasts. In Pinot Noir, the aromas of the Belle Dame, L'Enclos des Remparts and Les Marnes cuvées will seduce connoisseurs.
