CHATEAU CANTEMERLE

Château Cantemerle belonged to the Villeneuve family for many years. At that time, Madame Caroline de Villeneuve, who was at the head of the estate, fought to have the estate's name included in the famous 1855 official Classification des Vins de Bordeaux and thus preserve the château's reputation; Cantemerle was thus added to the Cinquièmes Crus. This was the first classification change in history. Later, the estate was acquired by the French group SMA, a mutual insurance company for construction and public works companies. This was one of the first companies to invest in a Bordeaux vineyard. It enlarged the property by purchasing vines, and carried out in-depth soil analyses, enabling us to offer today high-quality planting material, managed by an HVE* approach.
