Château Talbot is a Saint-Julien appellation wine. This Bordeaux red wine is well known in the Médoc. The name Château Talbot refers to John Talbot, an English constable. The estate has belonged to the Cordier family since 1918. At that time, Désiré Cordier bought Château Talbot from the Marquis d'Aux de Lescout family. Georges Cordier, his son, took over the running of the estate. He decided to plant a white grape variety. Today, Nancy Bignon-Cordier and Jean-Paul Bignon run Château Talbot. This fourth Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé boasts a 110-hectare single vineyard.

Location of Château Talbot

The Château Talbot estate is located in the commune of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle. The vineyards of this Saint-Julien wine benefit from an excellent location. The vines border the Gironde estuary. The soil is made up of quaternary Médoc gravel and limestone hilltops. This geographical location enables us to produce exceptional, highly sought-after vintages. Of the 110-hectare vineyard, five hectares of white grape varieties are planted on Médoc gravel. This vast vineyard surrounding the château extends as far as Pauillac.

Château Talbot wines

Château Talbot produces two red wines and one white wine. Château Talbot, Saint-Julien's fourth Grand Cru Classé, is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, with the addition of Merlot and Petit Verdot. The second wine is called Connétable de Talbot. This Saint-Julien Rouge is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Caillou Blanc is the third Château Talbot wine. This Bordeaux Blanc appellation is made with Sauvignon Blanc and a little Semillon. On tasting, Caillou Blanc combines freshness with complex yellow fruit aromas.
