The Raynaud-Lebreton family of winegrowers has been established in Pomerol since 1477. They have been operating the Château La Fleur de Gay vineyard since 1772. Jean Brugnet was one of the first to recognize the exceptional potential of the Pomerol terroir. Several generations have perpetuated the values of their ancestors. Since 1997, Chantal Lebreton has continued the work of her father, Noël Raynaud, with passion and rigor. From the vineyard to the cellar, she blends tradition and innovation to produce, vintage after vintage, a Grand Cru de Bordeaux Rouge.
Location of Château La Fleur de Gay
To the north of thePomerol appellation, Château La Fleur de Gay is ideally located in the hamlet of Pignon. Two hectares of vines are planted at an altitude of 40 meters on a high terrace. Pomerol is a commune in the Libournais region, on the right bank of Bordeaux. It borders Saint-Émilion. Château La Fleur de Gay has three parcels of vines with very different but complementary geological properties. One parcel is pure clay, the second is clay gravel and the third is Günzian gravel. The estate shares this exceptional terroir with prestigious neighbors Château La Conseillante, Château L'Évangile and Vieux Château Certan.
The wines of Château La Fleur de Gay
Château La Fleur de Gay is renowned asone of Pomerol's finest wines. It is an elegant, rich red wine with woody fruit aromas. Its complexity and intensity are reminiscent of Château Pétrus. The La Fleur de Gay vineyard is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are harvested by hand. They are carried out with respect for tradition, the vines and the grapes. For 18 months, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels. Each vintage, they contribute to the harmony and balance of Château La Fleur de Gay's red wine.
