GUIBERTEAU

Based in Montreuil-Bellay, in the heart of the Saumur AOC in the Loire Valley, Domaine Guiberteau is now one of the most sought-after names in the region. Guided by a demanding, minimalist vision, Romain Guiberteau crafts vibrant, deep wines of remarkable precision.

A family adventure that has become a benchmark

The estate was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the Guiberteau family, winemakers for several generations. In the 2000s, Romain Guiberteau took over the reins of the family business, assisted initially by Nicolas Joly, a leading figure in biodynamic winemaking at La Coulée de Serrant. This marked the beginning of a radical evolution: conversion to organic farming, control of yields, and absolute rigor in both vineyard and cellar.

In the space of two decades, the estate moved from obscurity to the limelight, with wines that are now sought after the world over for their straightforwardness, mineral tension and aromatic intensity.

Elite terroirs in the Saumur region

The Domaine Guiberteau vineyard covers some 14 hectares, part of which is classified as Saumur-Champigny for the reds and Saumur blanc for the Chenins. The plots are located on the finest terroirs in the area, with tufa limestone soils rich in organic matter and excellent drainage.

Among the estate's most emblematic vineyard sites:

- Brézé, one of the most renowned terroirs for Loire whites,
- Les Moulins,
- Clos des Carmes,
- Les Arboises,
- Les Motelles

Rigorous, uncompromising organic viticulture

Domaine Guiberteau has been certified organic since 2003. Here, everything begins with absolute respect for the soil and living organisms: light ploughing, manual work, limited yields, plant-based treatments. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and sorted by hand, so that only perfectly ripe, healthy berries are left.

In the cellar, vinification is carried out with minimal intervention: indigenous yeasts, long fermentations, aging on lees in barrels, without fining or filtration. The wines are bottled with a minimum of sulfur, to let the purity of the fruit and the energy of the terroir speak for themselves.

Loire wines with an assertive style

- The 100% Chenin whites are models of tension and depth, capable of withstanding the decades. Mineral, straightforward and saline, they reveal the essence of tuffeau terroirs.
- The reds, made from Cabernet Franc, combine density, precision and freshness. They are beautifully structured, without heaviness, with a real mineral undertone.

Among the cuvées most appreciated by wine-lovers:

- Saumur Brézé blanc,
- Clos de Guichaux,
- Saumur blanc Les Moulins,
- Saumur-Champigny Les Arboises,
- Saumur rouge Les Motelles

An icon of the Loire revival

Domaine Guiberteau is now recognized as a key player in the revival of Loire wines. Rarely available, its cuvées are coveted by wine lovers the world over, thanks to a unique signature: purity, energy and balance.

Demanding, terroir-driven wines, built for ageing, and driven by a sincere philosophy that is at once free, rigorous and inspired.
