A young winemaker, Nicolas Chemarin represents the fourth generation of the family domaine. Having completed his apprenticeship in Pouilly-Fuissé, he first worked for two years at Louis Tête, gaining experience in winemaking. Initially, this was a part-time job, with the rest of his time devoted to his own vines. It all began in 2006, when he bought the Domaine's large building - since his grandfather had run only the vines - and then acquired several plots in 2008 to extend his vineyard.

Location of Domaine Chemarin

Today, Domaine Chemarin extends over 11 hectares, including 4.5 hectares transferred to him by his father on his retirement. The soils here are stony and therefore relatively poor, resting directly on granite rock. The average age of the vines is 40 years. Nicolas also farms 2 terroirs: Les Bulliats and La Haute Ronze. On these terroirs, the soils are clayey and deep, giving powerful wines. The diversity of the terroirs cultivated by Domaine Chemarin is one of its greatest strengths. The vines are cultivated with a view to enlarging the leaf surface to promote rapid photosynthesis and obtain perfectly ripe grapes.

Domaine Chemarin wines

The main grape varieties are Chardonnay and Gamay. In his semi-buried concrete vat room, Nicolas Chemarin works cold, maintaining a temperature of 20° and carrying out relatively long macerations: 25 to 30 days for the Crus and 18 to 20 days for the Vieilles Vignes. Annual production is around 30,000 bottles.
