Established in 1999, Antoine Sanzay spent three years delivering his grapes to the Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg winery cooperative (Loire Valley and Centre). Gradually, he began making wine from the 4 hectares of vines belonging to his grandparents, before officially taking over the family estate in 2002. Antoine pays particular attention to the vines and their soils. He cultivates the vines in the most natural way possible, using organic farming methods since 2014. The grapes are harvested by hand. In the cellar, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, and the wines are aged in oak barrels. These low-intervention methods give the wines the pure expression of their terroir.

Geographical location

Today, Domaine Antoine Sanzay has expanded to include 12 hectares of vines: 10.5 hectares for the production of its red wines in Saumur-Champigny and 1.5 hectares for the production of its white wines in Saumur. The main grape varieties are Cabernet Franc for red wines, and Chenin Blanc for white wines. The soils are predominantly siliceous-limestone and clay-limestone.

Domaine wines

Domaine Antoine Sanzay wines perfectly express Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The estate produces Saumur-Champigny, Saumur Blanc and Saumur Brut. The estate's wines gain in precision and finesse with age. The reds are refined and the whites more energetic.

Antoine is undoubtedly a rising star in the Saumur and Saumur-Champigny appellations, particularly for his cuvée Les Poyeux. This parcel is distinguished by its great finesse. It's a charming, gourmet wine with black truffle and licorice aromas, evolving on woody notes. Les Poyeux is a wine that will improve with age. The red Saumur-Champigny La Haye Dampierre surprised us with its long finish. The Cabernet Franc gives this cuvée aromas of red fruits and violets. Silky tannins with chalky notes on the finish. As for the Saumur Blanc Les Salles Martin, it's full-bodied and taut.
