The history of Maison Bonnard dates back to 1988, when two brothers, Roland and Frédéric, decided to create their own estate in Sancerre. Initially, it was just one hectare of vines on the family estate, where their parents were involved in mixed farming. Thirty years later, the estate has grown to almost 16 hectares. A new generation is at the head of Maison Bonnard. Anne-Sophie, Romain and Jean-Christophe: the cousins are actively involved in the business. Their passion reveals a deep commitment to innovation. Single-vineyard cuvées for the best expression and authenticity of terroirs and their fruit.

Location of Maison Bonnard

Nestled between the Jura and Savoie regions, the vineyard lies in the heart of the Bugey region. The landscape reveals a more or less contrasted relief. The vines are planted on the steep slopes of Montagnieu. The vineyards are located on slopes ranging from 30 to 70%! They are composed of clay-limestone soils scattered with rolled pebbles, on which Gamay and Chardonnay grapes are grown. The soils are also made up of clay and limestone scree, mainly in the Pinot Noir and Mondeuse plots. Biodynamic viticulture is involved in several phases of the work: to guarantee the health of the soil and plants, to give an important place to the role of nature in wine production, and above all to preserve the authenticity of the terroir. Viticulture, for example, is based on the lunar calendar, and wine-making is governed by the rhythms of nature. The aim? To produce a wine that is healthy, pure and full of character!
