Domaine Garnier et Fils represents a special case in our selection of great Burgundy wines. The domaine does not come from a long family tradition. Xavier and Jérôme's father produced cereals. The two brothers wanted to diversify the family business. The estate was therefore created from scratch in 1985.

Today, the new winemakers run a modern estate on 30 hectares of vines. A trading activity for Chablis Premier Cru and Chablis Grand Cru completes their production. Finally, Domaine Garnier et Fils will be converting to organic farming in 2021.

Location of Domaine Garnier et Fils

Domaine Garnier et Fils has its roots in Ligny-le-Chatel, the northernmost village of Chablis. It then extends to the communes of Maligny, Villy and Lignorelles. The estate covers all the geologies and appellations of the Chablis region.

The Petit Chablis vines cover 5 hectares of the estate. The soil is clayey-sandy and slightly chalky. The Chablis vines cover 20 hectares of clay-limestone soil. Domaine Garnier et Fils wines are 87% Chardonnay. Only 13% are Pinot Noir.

Finally, Xavier and Jérôme Garnier lease 6 hectares of vines on the Tannay hillsides to the south of the estate. On this Chablis terroir, they produce a red wine based on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Melon de Bourgogne.

Domaine Garnier et Fils wines

Chablis Premier Cru wines include Beauroy, Côte de Jouan, Fourchaume, Montmains and Mont de Milieu. Chablis Grand Cru wines include Vaudésir and Les Clos. Taste also Bourgogne Épineuil, Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Grains Dorés. Finally, discover l'Instant Tannay. This is the original red wine that the two brothers, Xavier and Jérôme, produce in this white wine terroir.
