Château Montrose wines are part of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. This Bordeaux red wine estate is owned by Martin and Olivier Bouygues. Château Montrose is a Second Grand Cru Classé. For more than two centuries, this Montrose appellation has benefited from remarkable work. Théodore Dumoulin brought this exceptional vineyard to the fore. In every vintage of Château Montrose, we find all the passion of a Médoc Grand Cru. This terroir-driven wine is recognized as a benchmark by Robert Parker.

Geographical location of Château Montrose

Château Montrose is located in the Médoc region of Gironde. This Bordeaux wine benefits from a rich, gravelly vineyard. The 95 hectares of vines of this Saint-Estèphe benefit from a subsoil composed of clay and marl. Château Montrose stretches all the way to the Gironde, a favorable situation for the production of this quality red wine. The Montrose vineyard is a single plot, which is very rare. Each parcel of Montrose vines is unique. It's this remarkable soil that makes this Saint-Estèphe appellation wine one of Bordeaux's finest.

Château Montrose wines

Château Montrose wines come in three red Bordeaux varieties. First, Château Montrose, Second Grand Cru, classified since 1855. This wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Each bottle has its own particular color and notes. Some vintages of this Bordeaux Saint-Estèphe red wine are legendary and exceptional. The second red wine from this château is Dame de Montrose, which benefits from the same expertise. The third wine from this Bordeaux estate is Tertio de Montrose, which had the appellation Saint-Estèphe de Montrose until 2016.
