CHÂTEAU HAUT-BAILLY

Château Haut-Bailly is a Graves Grand Cru classé in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. The estate's history dates back to the 15th century. Many owners have succeeded one another. From 1955 onwards, Daniel Sanders and then his son Jean Sanders created the Haut-Bailly style and developed the reputation of the estate's wines. Château Haut-Bailly's red wine became a Grand Vin de Bordeaux. Robert Wilmers, an American banker, bought the estate in 1998. Véronique Sanders, Jean's daughter, manages the estate. She continues the family tradition, combining tradition and modernity.

Château Haut-Bailly is located in Léognan, just outside Bordeaux. The estate owns 30 hectares of vines on the left bank of the Garonne River in Gironde. The soil of the Pessac-Léognan terroir is composed of gravel, sand and clay. The subsoil is made up of marine sediments and fossilized stones. 10,000 vines per hectare thrive in an oceanic climate. The vineyard is planted with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. 4 hectares of vines are over one hundred years old. Six grape varieties contribute to the consistent quality of Château Haut-Bailly red wine.

Château Haut-Bailly wines are complex and well-balanced. They are renowned for their elegance, finesse and smoothness. Powerful, harmonious and structured, the red wines of Domaine Haut-Bailly are timeless and consistent through the vintages. The tannins are silky, the aromas fruity and woody. Château Haut-Bailly is the estate's first wine. La Parde Haut-Bailly is the second wine. It has been renamed Haut-Bailly II. Domaine Haut-Bailly produces a third red wine, HB Pessac-Léognan, as well as a rosé wine, Rose de Haut-Bailly, depending on the vintage.
