BIZOT JEAN-YVES

In 1966, wine merchant Jean Bizot bought plots of vines in Vosne-Romanée, the emblematic commune of the Burgundy region. He created the 2.5-hectare Domaine Bizot. In 1993, his son Jean-Yves took over the estate. Trained as a geologist and oenologist, he sublimates the small piece of terroir entrusted to him by his father Jean.

Jean-Yves Bizot sees himself as amaster craftsman of Pinot Noir. He maintains a close relationship with his vines. His work is precise. He follows his intuition. He explores details. The estate remains small in size. But it has become a benchmark for Vosne-Romanée enthusiasts. It now covers 4.8 hectares.

Geographical location of Domaine Bizot Jean-Yves

The vines of Domaine Bizot grow along the villages of the Côte de Nuits. To the north, the Clos du Roy cuvée flourishes in Marsannay, followed by Le Chapitre in Chenôve. In the center, the villages of Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux are home to the famous 1.70-hectare Domaine Bizot Jean-Yves wines. Finally, Domaine Bizot Jean-Yves expands to the south at Magny-lès-Villers. It thus joins the villages of the Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits appellation.

Domaine Bizot vines grow on clay-limestone soils. These soils produce fine, complex wines. And connoisseurs consider this terroir to offer exceptional Pinot Noirs.

Jean-Yves Bizot produces 3 wines in the Vosne-Romanée appellation: Cuvée provenant des vieilles vignes, Les Jachées and Les Réas. Échezeaux Grand Cru, Marsannay Clos du Roy and Bourgogne Le Chapitre round out the domaine's rich red wine offering. The Bourgogne Les Violettes cuvée joins the estate's Hautes-Côtes de Nuits white wines.

In love with his terroir, Jean-Yves Bizot produces organic wine without sulfur or inputs. He works his vines with the precious respect of a goldsmith. His wine is bottled by hand to provide a perfect connection for his enthusiasts.
