MEO-CAMUZET
The Domaine has been built up over more than four centuries, first by the Méo family in Vosne-Romanée, then by the Camuzet family with Etienne Camuzet, owner of a 3-hectare estate at the foot of the Château du Clos-de-Vougeot. Jean Méo, Etienne's nephew, became heir to the estate in 1959. He worked alongside Henri Jayer, his mentor in terms of cultivation and winemaking. 1981: Domaine Camuzet becomes Méo-Camuzet. Jean Méo also kept his uncle's name. The first vintages under this name were bottled in 1983. Very busy with his political obligations, notably to General de Gaulle and the management of the Union Générale des Pétroles, he placed his full trust in Henri Jayer. Jean-Nicolas, one of Jean Méo's sons, took over the reins in 1989 and produced his very first vintage. Witnessing great success, especially in America, he set up a trading company in parallel: Méo-Camuzet Frères et Sœurs, accompanied by his 2 sisters.
