MALLE CASTLE

Château de Malle was built in the 17th century by Jacques de Malle, once President of the Bordeaux Parliament, who bequeathed his name to the Château. Three generations later, Pierre de Malle's daughter Jeanne married Alexandre-Eutrope de Lur-Saluces. The latter held the title of Comte à Uzar and Baron de Fargues. In 1855, the Château enjoyed its first success and was elected Grand Cru Classé. Henri de Lur-Saluces' daughter married Paul de Bournazel, father of Henri Bournazel, better known today by his nickname "Chevalier Rouge". Today, the Chevalier Rouge's son, the Comte de Bournazel, holds the reins of the estate. In particular, he has launched the rehabilitation of the entire vineyard and the Château. He is regarded as an important figure in Bordeaux viticulture.
